Roles: Owner and Manager (and where drivers fit)

Who can do what in Routerra Teams — the Owner runs billing and the team itself, Managers dispatch, and drivers only ever touch the app.

Routerra Teams has three roles, and the split is simple: Owners run the business side, Managers run the day, and drivers never open the web app at all.

The three roles

RoleWhere they workWhat they do
OwnerWeb appEverything a Manager can do, plus billing, renaming or deleting the team, and managing members
ManagerWeb appPlans, fleet (drivers, depots, zones), the address book, notifications, and the activity log — everything except billing and team-level admin
DriverDriver app onlyReceives routes, works stops, captures proof of delivery. Never signs into the web app

What only the Owner can do

A Manager can dispatch all day without ever hitting a wall, but three things are reserved for the Owner:

  • Billing — the trial, driver seats, invoices, and plan changes. Details in Trial, seats, and billing.
  • Team administration — renaming the team, and the Danger zone that deletes the team and all its data.
  • Members — inviting and removing Managers.

Everything else — creating plans, importing stops, optimizing, sending routes, editing the fleet, drawing zones, reading the activity log — is shared by Owners and Managers equally.

Inviting a Manager

Bring on a co-dispatcher from Settings → Members.

  1. Open Settings → Members

    Press Add member.

  2. Enter their email

They'll get an invite link. Use the address they actually check — the invite is tied to it.

  3. They accept and sign in

The invite lands them on a "You've been invited" page; they sign up (or sign in) with that same email and they're in, with full Manager access.

To remove someone, use Remove on their row. Removing a Manager doesn't touch any plans or data they created — it only revokes their access.

Where drivers fit

Drivers are added under Fleet → Drivers, not Members — because a driver isn't a web-app user. Adding a driver (name + email) does two things at once: it reserves a seat and sends an invite to the Routerra Teams driver app. From then on the driver only ever sees the routes you send them. See Get started with the driver app for their side of it.
